Site information / Cookies

A simpler kind of browsing.

The supplied guide does not intentionally set cookies or use browser storage. There is no tracking preference to disguise behind an “accept all” button.

What the archive does

Museum Visitor Guide is a small static demonstration: HTML pages, local images, inline styling and limited JavaScript for page interactions and form validation. The supplied code does not intentionally create cookies or use localStorage or sessionStorage. It contains no analytics tags, advertising trackers, third-party font requests, embedded maps, social widgets or externally embedded video.

There is no account, shopping basket, remembered consent choice or connected newsletter service. Reading an article or testing a demo form does not create a site-managed profile. The forms do not send or save their contents, and their status messages describe that limitation rather than presenting a successful submission.

No cookie banner is included. The supplied archive has no intentional cookie or tracking feature for a reader to approve. Displaying an acceptance banner would imply a choice that the archive does not actually implement.

Cookies, storage and caching

A cookie is a small piece of information a website can ask a browser to keep and return with later requests. Local storage and session storage are other browser facilities that scripts can use to retain information. This guide does not intentionally use any of those mechanisms.

Ordinary browser caching is different: a browser may retain copies of HTML or images so that pages load efficiently. Browsing history, autofill and page restoration are also browser-controlled features, not evidence that this guide has saved a submitted message. You can manage these features through your browser’s settings.

A hosted copy may differ

This statement describes the files in the archive, not every environment in which they might be published. A hosting provider, preview service, content-delivery network or security layer may introduce its own cookies or process access logs. This guide cannot establish those services’ actual settings, purposes or retention periods just by inspecting the static files.

The owner of a published copy should review the real deployment, including response headers and platform additions, and provide accurate information about any additional technologies. If you are reading on a hosted service, consult that service’s published policies as well as this page. See the privacy notice for more about connection data and server logs.

External websites and future changes

Following a link to the British Museum or another external service takes you outside this archive. The destination may use its own cookies, consent controls and other technologies. Its policies apply there; this guide does not choose those settings on your behalf.

If the owner adds analytics, advertising, embeds, personalisation or working submissions, this description must be reviewed before those features are activated. Any required information and consent controls must reflect the actual implementation, including a genuine way to make and change choices where applicable. This page is a technical explanation of a demonstration, not a verified legal compliance assessment.
